1976–1983 Study of medicine at the Christian Albrechts-Universität, Kiel with award of full license to practice.
1980 Training in acupuncture, among others in China, at the university in Vienna (Austria) and in Brünn (Czech Republic).
1983–1987 Further training in internal medicine at the Medizinische Hochschule Lübeck and at the Friedrich-Ebert hospital in Neumünster.
1987 establishment as a general medical practitioner in Kiel
1987 Lecturer at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität, Kiel, in the discipline acupuncture
1990 Scientific director of the training in the discipline acupuncture at the Academy for further training and instruction of the Landesärztekammer Schleswig-Holstein.
1993 Assistant professor for acupuncture and naturopathic treatments at the University clinicum (Universitätsklinikum) Schleswig Holstein Campus, Kiel.
1999 Recognition as an additional specialization in "Naturopathics" and "Homeopathy" by the Ärztekammer Schleswig-Holstein.
